Matinee idols: Isotopes produce on both offense, defense

ALBUQUERQUE — Five home runs. Five double plays.

The Albuquerque Isotopes seemingly broke out of their recent doldrums with a 16-1 blowout over division leader El Paso in a midweek matinee Thursday afternoon at The Lab.

It’s a key win as the Isotopes try to catch the Chihuahuas and the Salt Lake Bees, the two teams currently leading them in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Southern.
