  • THUMBS DOWN: WHAT BALLOONS REPRESENT
To some, balloons represent flying to the heavens — a way to honor those no longer with us. To others, it’s merely a way to symbolize a happy event or celebration, and florists and gift shops recognize this.
However, Sunday afternoon, balloons represented an enemy of the local electrical grid. PNM said balloons were the cause a of a power outage that affected about 2,000 customers in Las Vegas and the surrounding area to the north.

  • THUMBS DOWN: SLOW DOWN FOR PILGRIMAGE
Folks who’ve lived in New Mexico their entire lives know there are pilgrimages in the spring. • THUMBS UP:
    PAIR FOR THE PANTHERS

There could be so many places to start in praising the hard work of everyone committed to (or associated with) the Pecos High School boys basketball program. From the young men who set the actual screens and blocked the shots on the court to the adults who stood up for the program and led by example, to every screaming gradeschool-age supporter, it takes a special effort to win back-to-back state championships.
