    Get input first
Once again, it appears that the governor, along with the Public Education Department are seeking to wreak havoc with their rule-making regulations to destroy public education in New Mexico.

    Billion-dollar babies
It seems that every other newspaper article I read these days manages to mention this billionaire or that billionaire. All of a sudden you can’t accomplish anything without having a billion dollars or so lying around.

The owners of this current title of quasi-royalty appear to be in charge of this runaway train we call a country and their bank account is so great that the rest of us schmucks can only hang on for dear life.

    Question the news

Three parents whose children were killed in Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting are fighting the unconscionable fake news denying these murders.I believe all of us have to take responsibility to call out the fake news we are assailed with every day!

    No confidence

I want to have on public record a vote of no confidence in San Miguel County Manager Vidal Martinez by the people of the county.

We have witnessed, and have evidence of, several violations of the Open Meetings Act, overstepping his authority in relation to elected and appointed commissioners making decisions contrary to unanimous County Commission resolutions, exhibiting non-transparency, favoritism and ignoring the voices of the county.

    World Tai Chi Day
World Tai Chi Day begins at 10 a.m. in the first time zone on our planet.
Tai Chi is all about generating good, healthy, positive energy to better ourselves and be better to all those around us.

It is this energy that is being generated and sent across the world from time zone to time zone collectively spreading the good intentions of 300 million plus Tai Chi practitioners (we’re called players) across all geographical, political, religious boundaries.

    Keep fixes going
I wish to acknowledge the road work by San Miguel County affecting the residents of El Cerrito this past month. El Cerrito is located south of Bernal via San Miguel County Road B28A.

Exiting the village one travels toward N.M. State Road 3, from where you can join I-40 to the south or Villanueva to the north, the location of the village places it adjacent to the Santa Fe National Forest (toward Bernal) and the Villanueva State Park (towards State Road 3).

    Mil Gracias
We have some awesome firemen and women in this area!

On Saturday, March 17, we had a grass fire on Cinder Road which quickly got out of hand. Dry winter conditions added to the problem. Thank God no homes were lost to the fire.

The fire departments from Las Vegas, Gallinas, Sheridan and State Forestry prevented this.

Within a short period of time, several fire trucks were on the scene and  many firefighters swung into action. They were well-organized and eagerly fought the fire.

    DACA vs. 40 acres

Reporter Alice L. Wagoner certainly has issues with what was the Democratic party in the days of Lincoln, etc. At that time the Democratic party was made up of Southerners and later morphed into the Republican Party.

Gen. Sherman made an unfounded promise not backed by law. DACA students have been here without having a say-so about immigration to this country — they were babies, for the most part.

    Death of liberty?

Racism, materialism and militarism were the "isms" preached against by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. over 50 years ago. Since that time, they have metastasized to the point of systemic infection.

This could lead to permanent impairment and, perhaps, the death of liberty and justice in this land of the free and the home of the brave.

    Spay and neuter
Contact your legislators and urge them to support Senate Bill 51 and House Bill 64 that will provide desperately needed free/low cost spays  and neuters to the pets of NM families.

Over half of the pets in shelters must be killed every year because there are not enough homes.

The procedures decrease the pet overpopulation and the resulting euthanasia. Contact media@apvnm.com for more information.
