Juanita M. Estrada

Juanita M. Estrada, 71, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, N.M. passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

She was born on June 12, 1950 to Geronimo Sanchez and Teodora Sanchez in Las Vegas, N.M. 

Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Her heart was in caring for people in and around the community of Las Vegas, N.M. where she worked as a C.N.A. in several Home Health Care Agencies and at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing her faith, making people smile by telling stories about back in the day, sharing dichos, singing and chatting with friends on Facebook.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and daughter Jerri Ann Sanchez.

Juanita is survived by her daughter Stephanie Sanchez of Las Vegas, N.M.; special granddaughter (raised like a daughter), Mari Cruz Sanchez of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Samantha Urioste, Anthony Urioste Jr., and Jesus Urioiste of Las Vegas, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Ella Padilla of Albuquerque, N.M. and Evan Crisostomo and Ambrose Trout of Las Vegas, N.M.; sister Angie Dimas of Las Vegas, N.M., special niece Joleen Ortiz of Las Vegas, N.M.; and numerous relatives and friends.

Rosary service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Rob Yaksich as a celebrant. 

A private committal service and burial of remains will take place at a later date at St. Joseph’s Cemetery where Juanita will be laid to rest next to her daughter Jerri Ann.
