  • Foster parent information meeting Wednesday

    The public is invited to an information meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, to learn about foster and adoptive parenting opportunities with New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department. The information meeting will be held at the local CYFD office at 2518 Ridge Runner Road.

    Currently there are 36 children in San Miguel County in the foster care system. There is a need for more foster parents in this community.

Opticians’ offices: Wal-Mart, Eye Associates, Mills Ave; Insight Optical, Highway 518. Also at Shoes ‘n Boots, Seventh Street. Used glasses are repaired then donated to charity groups serving those in need around the world.

    • Artists’ Reception for Juxtapose Paper to Metal show, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Gallery 140, Las Vegas Arts Council building at 140 Bridge Street. The show features bronze sculptures by Jane Lumsden and watercolors by Jane Fritz. The show runs until July 26 at the gallery.
