The New Mexico State Police is continuing its investigation into the Sept. 12 murder of a Mora man.

John Serna, 66, died from an apparent gunshot wound, police reported. No charges have been filed.

Police responded to calls about a shooting near a home on County Road A042 in Mora. When officers arrived, they found Serna dead.

During the initial investigation, police determined that Serna and a man police have not publicly identified had gotten into an altercation that resulted in Serna being shot.
