The Las Vegas New Mexico Community Foundation will soon begin taking grant applications from nonprofits in San Miguel and Mora counties.

Application materials will be available by emailing Info@lvnmcf.org.

For its 2020 cycle, the foundation split $62,500 among 20 organizations; grants ranged from $1,000 to $15,000.

“The grant application package will give the details for applying, and we will hold a training session for applicants who want help in preparing their submissions,” said foundation chairman Elmo Baca.

To fund grants, the foundation on Nov. 19 will hold its third annual Chile Challenge. The evening fundraiser will be streamed on YouTube and feature local singers, traditional cooking, and projects carried out by local organizations

“By the end of the year, the grant applications will be in, the decisions made, and the checks written for projects in 2022,” Baca said. “Last year the Chile Challenge program accounted for nearly two-thirds of our grant dollars.”
