    Simon Sanchez, 83, of Las Vegas, was called by his Lord as his mission on earth was completed on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

    Simon was a World War II veteran and recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

    Margaret A. Vigil, 61, a resident of Cleveland, N.M., and former resident of Corrales, N.M., passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012.

    Margaret was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

    She was preceded in death by her father: Ruperto Maes and a brother: Gilbert Maes.

  • Delia V. Abreu Casaus

    Delia V. Abreu Casaus, 96, passed away peacefully at The BeeHive Assisted Living Facility on May 22, 2012.

    She was born in Dawson, N.M. on Sept. 30, 1915, to Ramon Abreu and Gertrude Brown Abreu.

    She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing on  May 20, 1937.

    She married Carlos M. Casaus on Nov. 27, 1940 and spent 64 happy years with him, many of them spent overseas during his career in the military.

    They retired to Mora County in 1970 where they spent the best years of their lives, and they moved to Albuquerque in 1996.

  • Tibor K. Remenyik

    Tibor K. Remenyik, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday at the Santa Fe Care Center from a rapidly advanced systemic cancer.

    He was born on March 10, 1929 in Budapest, Hungary, and became a naturalized American citizen in 1964 in Knox-ville, Tenn. He is survived by his wife Janet of 51 years of Las Vegas; a daughter, Barbara Remenyik of Walnut Springs, Texas; and a brother, Carl Remenyik of Knoxville, Tenn.

    Obaido Trujillo, 82, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., residing in Albuquerque, recently passed away from an extended illness.

    He was born on May 22, 1930, to the late Ignacio Juan Trujillo and Delfina Martinez-Trujillo in Chacon, N.M. Obaido’s hobbies were fishing and hunting. He loved the outdoors.

    He is preceded in death by his son: Leroy Trujillo, his parents, his sister Rafelita Gonzalez, and his three brothers: Miguel Trujillo, Ernesto Trujillo, and Eduardo Trujillo.

    Lila F. Candelario, 71, a lifetime resident of Holman, N.M., passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012.

    She was born April 21, 1941, to the late Jose Tomas Maes and Amalia Arellano in Holman.

    She was a teacher with the Mora Independent Schools for 32 years. She was a Catholic and a member of St. Gertrude’s Church in Mora, N.M. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed crocheting for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  • Rudy “Roots” Duran

    Rudy “Roots” Duran, 53, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas died on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Duran; a son, Mark Martinez; stepfather, Jose Benavidez; and brothers David and Lawrence Duran.

    He is survived by his mother, Mary Eslinda Duran of Las Vegas; six sisters: Sally Maes of Denver, Colo., Nancy Ortiz of Pueblo, Colo., Marcella Palomino, Theresa Madrid, and Jo Ann Duran all of Las Vegas, and Patsy Leonard of Albuquerque, and a grandson, Joseph Iziah Martinez.

    On Friday, May 18, 2012, Danny Eaker of Roswell, N.M., passed away in Grants, N.M. A service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 24 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Adam Soliz officiating. Danny was laid to rest following the service at South Park Cemetery.

    Danny Ray Eaker was born on May 24, 1957, in Kansas City, Mo., to Betty McHenry.

    Natividad Griego, 63, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

    He was born on Sept 5, 1948, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Natividad Griego, Sr. and Tillie Gutierrez.  

    He is preceded in death by his father and one brother.

    Surviving him is one uncle, Tony Griego and wife Lucy and family of Albuquerque; special friends, Linda Gutierrez and Marvin Sena and their son Harley Sena and Naomi who cared for him over the last 15 years; Elvie Gutierrez and Lorenzo, and Doris, all of Las Vegas.
