  • Alvin J. “Yogi” Duran

    Alvin J. “Yogi” Duran, a lifelong resident of Mora and Angel Fire, N.M., passed away due to sudden illness Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Albuquerque, N.M.

    He was born in Guadalupita, N.M. on Aug. 22, 1944 to Luis Duran and Lourdes Martinez. He married, Isabel Duran, his wife of 42 years, on Nov. 23, 1970.

    He is preceded in death by his father: Luis Duran, mother: Lourdes Martinez, younger sister: Christine Hammett, aunt: Cleo Gonzales, father-in-law: Max Pacheco, mother-in-law: Elvira Pacheco, and brother-in-law: Alex Guzman.

  • Leonard J. Hall, Jr.

    Leonard J. Hall, Jr., a resident of Las Vegas for the past eight years and former resident of Rockwood, Tenn. passed away at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital on July 6, 2012.

    He was born Feb. 2, 1938 in Rockwood, Tenn. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard J. Hall, Sr.

    He was united in marriage in Alhambra, Calif. on Aug. 8, 1964, to the late Beatriz S. Hall.

    He enjoyed watching western movies, NASCAR driving, college football, and reminiscing with family. He was a lifelong Christian.

  • Maria C. Sena

    1931-2012

    A Mass of Christian Burial for Lamar, Colo., resident Maria Sena was held on Thursday, July 5 at the St. Francis de Sales - Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar, Colo.

    A rosary-scripture service was also held. Father Charles Sena was the celebrant and burial followed in Holly Cemetery, Holly, Colo. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar on Wednesday, July 4.

    Samuel Romero, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on July 3, 2012 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital.

    He was born in Gallina, N.M., to Anastacio Romero and Hortencia Cordova Romero.

    He is survived by his wife: Mary Helen Romero of the family home; sons: Ronnie Romero, Albert Romero; four grandchildren; sister: Cordelia Alcon; brothers: Rudy Romero, and Tito Romero.

    Frankie Encinias, 54, of Pecos, N.M., died peacefully on Wednesday June 27, 2012. He was born on Aug. 10, 1957, in Anton Chico, N.M. to Annie Rael and Casimiro Encinias Sr.

    He is preceded in death by father: Casimiro Encinias Sr., and nephew: Jude Encinias.

    Frankie Encinias, 54, of Pecos passed away peacefully on June 27, 2012.

    He was born on Aug. 10, 1957 in Anton Chico, N.M. to Annie Rael and Casimiro Encinias Sr.

    He is preceded in death by his father: Casimiro Encinias Sr., and nephew: Jude Encinias.

    He is survived by his daughters: Francine Valdez (Carlos) and Julieann Williams (Harold), mother: Annie Encinias, sisters: Joyce and Ana, brothers: Casey Jr. and Jessie, and grandchildren: Calirose, Maeyana, Frankie, Rave, Carlos Jr., and Angelik.

  • Rosine V. Garduño


    Rosine V. Garduño, born Jan. 24, 1922, passed away at her home on June 30, 2012, surrounded by her children.

    She was born to Catarino and Maria Varela and married to Adolfo C. Garduño, who preceded her in death in 1996. She is also preceded in death by a son: Andy Garduño; brothers: Thomas, Reymundo and Gene Varela; a sister: Pita Stallings; and an adopted son: Guadalupe Garduño.

  • Evelyn Burch

    Evelyn Burch, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away at her home on June 21, 2012. She was 93.

    She was born in Levi, N.M., and moved to Las Vegas when she met and married her husband, Armon Burch, who precedes her in death.

    Together they opened, owned and operated Las Vegas Poultry and Egg.

  • Robert L. “Bob” Nordike

    Robert L. “Bob” Nordike, 76, a resident of Las Vegas since 2006, passed away on Friday following a brief illness.

    He was preceded in death by his parents: Clinton and Gladys Nordike; a brother: Lloyd Nordike; and his wife: Virginia Nordike.
