  • Gavina M. Pea

    Gavina M. Pea, age 87, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital.

    She was born in Las Tusas, N.M., on Feb. 24, 1920, to the late Ignacio Trujillo and Acelina Baca Trujillo. She was united in marriage to the late Gilbert Pea.

    She retired from the N.M. State Hospital where she was employed as a Nurse Tech for many years. She was an elementary teacher in Las Dispensas, Las Tusas, and Trujillo, N.M. She was a member of the Senior Citizen’s Center.

  • Robert J. Garza

    Robert J. Garza, age 61, a longtime resident of Tecolote, N.M. passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque following a sudden illness.

    He was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on April 8, 1946, to Geronimo Garza and Josephine Zamora Garza.

    He was united in marriage on June 8, 1966, at Las Vegas, N.M. to Mary Ann Vigil.

  • Pete A. Gallegos

    Pete A. Gallegos, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Feb. 20, 2008, and is now in Heaven with Our Lord.

    Mr. Gallegos is the beloved husband to Mrs. Mary Ellen Gallegos, married for 48 years.

    Mr. Gallegos is the loving father to Tony Gallegos and wife, Geri, Andy Gallegos and wife, Loraine, Paul Adam Gallegos and wife, Sylvia and Tricia Gallegos.

  • Cecilia Nelson

    Cecilia Nelson, 87 years old, went to meet our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008.

    She passed away gently and peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children. Cecilia’s journey ended after a 10-year struggle with Alzheimer’s.

    Cecilia was born in Dilia, N.M. on June 20, 1920, to Martin and Teresita Perea.

  • Anthony 'Tony' Hernandez, Sr.

    Anthony “Tony” Hernandez, Sr. of Prior Lake, formerly of Hudson, Wisc., age: 54, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, at his home.

    He was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Valdez, Colo. to parents, Joe C. and Lucinda (Gonzales) Hernandez

    Tony and Maria (Sena) Hernandez were united in marriage in Las Vegas, N.M. on Aug. 9, 1975. They were blessed with three children.

  • Cecilia Nelson

    Cecilia Nelson, age 87, born and raised in Dilia, N.M., and longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008.

    A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday Feb. 21, from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. C. John Brasher at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, also at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow the mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Dilia, N.M.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home, 425-6551.

  • Albert Gonzales

    Albert Gonzales, age 90, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Friday, Feb.15, 2008, at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital.

    He was born in Sabinoso, N.M., on Feb. 1, 1918, to the late Teodoro Gonzales and Bersabe Romero Gonzales.

    He was united in marriage at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M., on Sept. 8, 1943, to the late Grace Ulibarri.

  • Cesario Torres

    Cesario Torres of Lubbock died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the age of 67. Cesario was born to Eduardo and Luisita Torres on June 20, 1940 in Guada-lupita, N.M.

    He was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from St. Gertrude’s Catholic High School in 1960. On Feb. 2, 1964, he married Dolores Estrada in Lubbock.

  • Jose Arsenio Ortiz

    A memorial mass for Jose Arsenio Ortiz was celebrated on Saturday evening from Nuestra Seora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in South San Isidro, N.M.

    Jose passed away in a sudden accident on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at the age of 54.

    He was a lifelong resident of South San Isidro in San Miguel County. He was born on July 29, 1953 to the late Trinidad and Sadie Ortiz. Also preceding him in death is one brother, Don Ortiz.
