  • Fred Cruz Montoya

    Fred Cruz Montoya, 74, of Mesa, a proud husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Aug. 4, 2009. 

    He was born in Las Vegas to Nick and Sofia (Crespin) Montoya, on May 3, 1935.  Fred was raised in Las Vegas where he attended New Mexico Highlands University.

    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. 

    He married Dulia Montoya on May 6, 1961, with whom he had three sons.

  • Juan “Chubby” De Los Reyes Maes

    Juan “Chubby” De Los Reyes Maes, 63, from Las Vegas, N.M.  passed away on Aug. 5, 2009. He was born July 23, 1946, in Maes, N.M., to Eligio and Pabilna Maes. He is survived by his wife Dora Maes, daughter Deborah Gallegos and her husband Ed, son Juan Daniel Maes and his wife Shauna and brothers George and Andres Maes He was a proud and loving grandfather to  Keenan, Samantha, Caleb Kiara, Sebastian, Alexia, Hezekiah, Alyssa and Elise and uncle to many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Eligio mother, Pablina and brother Archie Maes. 

  • Arturo Aguilar

    Arturo Aguilar, age 87, a lifelong resident of Anton Chico, N.M., passed away on Monday,  Aug. 10, 2009.

    Funeral services will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, N.M. Time and date are pending.

  • Gloria Romaine Lopez

    Our Loving and faithfully devoted Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Best Friend, Gloria Romaine Lopez was called home to heaven by Our Lord on Aug.10, 2009, after a courageous battle with kidney disease.

    Gloria was born in Las Vegas on April 23, to Ramon and Rachael Lujan. She will always be forever 39.   

    She attended West Las Vegas City Schools and graduated with honors in English and science and represented the band as a Drum Majorette. She graduated at NMHU with a double major in elementary education and art education.

  • Manuel Ulibarri

    Manuel Ulibarri, age 73, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital.

    He was born in Maes, N.M., on Nov. 18, 1935, to the late Juan Santiago Ulibarri and Rosa Griego Ulibarri.

    He was co-owner and car salesman for Art’s Car Lot. He loved ranching, horses, hunting, and roping.

    A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church  in Las Vegas and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Woodmen of the World.

  • Maximino “Max” D. Torres

    Maximino “Max” D. Torres, 82, of Chacon, N.M., died Monday, July 27, 2009, at his home.

  • Emily Romero

    Emily Romero, age 42 , a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, in Las Vegas, N.M.

    She was in born in Albuquerque on Oct.19, 1966 to Joann C. Romero.

    A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M.

    She is preceded in death by her Grandfather: Jose Dolores Romero; Uncles: Adolfo Romero , Delfinio Romero; uncle and aunt: Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Montoya; Aunt: Pauline Valdez, Mary Valdez; great-grand-mother: Lucianita Torrez.

  • Aaron Jay Ortega

    Aaron Jay Ortega, age 30, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.

    He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., on May 20, 1979, to Juan Ortega and Annabella Aranda-Ortega.

    A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M..

    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Placido and Emalina Ortega; maternal grandparents: Jose and Antonia Aranda; Uncles: Patricio Aranda and Placido “Placic” Ortega Jr.

  • Luis Rodriguez

    Luis Rodriguez passed away in the early morning of Friday, June 26, after a brief struggle with lung cancer.  He died at home surrounded and supported by family and friends. 

  • Leonard “Leo” Sena

    Leonard “Leo” Sena of Las Vegas, N.M., born Aug. 5, 1962, passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning July 16 2009, at age 47.

    Le-onard was a life-long resident of Las Vegas, N.M., and was a well-known man; known for his great personality and loving soul. He had a struggling life but he lived it the way that God had intended. In the words of his sister Mary “He was loved by everyone.”

    He was preceded in death by his mother Estefanita Maestas Sena; father Clemente Sena, Brothers Ralph Sena, Jimmy Lucero and nephew Marvin Vigil.
