• Rachel A. Meserve

    Rachel A. Meserve, 51, a former resident of Las Vegas died April 30, 2012 in Rio Rancho, N.M.

    She was born May 15, 1960, to John and Lena Villegas in Belen, N.M., and graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1978. Rachel attended the State Police Academy, which began her 20-year career in law enforcement.

    She also received an associates in electronics and a bachelor’s degree at New Mexico Highlands University in 1993.

  • Betty Ann Powell

    Betty Ann Powell, 71, a resident of Santa Fe, N.M., passed on to eternal life with Jesus Christ on April 30, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.

    Ninth born of 15 children on April 20, 1941, in Rainsville, N.M., to Felimon and Ermelinda Pacheco.

    Betty Ann married Alfred L. Powell in Las Vegas on March 23, 1973. Her faith to her family and God was lived everyday. She was an active volunteer at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and at Fraternal Order of Eagles #2811.

  • Betty Jean Turner

    Betty Jean Turner, age 82, a longtime resident of Las Vegas passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M., on April 30, 2012.

    She was born on Feb. 4, 1930, in Clayton, N.M., to the late Dessie Viola Stewart.

    She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved music, taught piano, and also enjoyed dancing and traveling. She was a member of the Order Eastern Star in Springer, N.M.; member of the Las Vegas Women’s Club, member of Telephone Pioneers and member of the Aristocrat R.V. Club.

  • Christina Louise Crespin

    Christina Louise Crespin, 41, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, has gone to be with Our Lord Jesus Cristo and Mother La Virgin De Guadalupe as she passed away in her sleep on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

    She was born on Sept. 8, 1970, in Las Vegas to Leo Crespin and Priscilla Jaramillo Crespin.

    A lifelong Catholic, and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas.
    She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Cleofas and Ignacita Jaramillo; Paternal Grandparents: Luis and Florence Crespin.

  • Anisa Maria Esperanza Montoya

    Alamosa, Colo., resident Anisa Maria Esperanza Montoya, 18, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on April 28, 2012 in Pueblo, Colo.

    Anisa began to bless our lives on Feb. 1, 1994, in Las Vegas, the daughter of Martin and Nicole Montoya. She lived with her family in Las Vegas and attended the Las Vegas Christian Center for seven years. Then she and her parents were sent to Mora, N.M. to pastor a church in that beautiful community. She served in the Mora Christian Center for five years, before God called her and her family to Alamosa, Colo.

  • Amalia Perea Armijo

    Amalia P. Armijo, 99, a longtime resident of Montezuma, N.M., passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her residence.

    She was born on May 14, 1912, in Las Manuelitas, N.M. to Alejandro Perea, Sr. and Dorotea Crespin Perea.

    She worked out of her home as a self-employed seamstress, worked at the Flower Pot on the Plaza. She was an extremely active member of La Capilla de San Jose in Montezuma, where she assisted the Seminarios in the training and teaching of their religion.

  • Marie Conception Tafoya Lovato

    Marie Conception Tafoya Lovato, 95, a resident of El Carmel, N,M., passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Care Free Living Facility in Albuquerque.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years: Inocencio Lovato; her parents: Praxedes and Estephanita Tafoya; a son: Leroy Lovato; two brothers: Anastacio and Sam Lovato; and sisters: Stella Aragon, Agatha Aragon, Irene Vigil, and Mercedes Crollett.

  • Michael Elvires Castellano

    Michael Elvires Castellano, 53, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012.  

    Michael was born on November 15, 1958 in Las Vegas to the union of Elvires and Carmen Castellano.

    He is preceded in death by his mother: Carmen Lucero Castellano; brothers: Gerald and Benjamin Castellano and sisters: Emily Castellano and Margaret Sundown.

  • Eve M. Maestas

    A rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial was held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 from the Sacred Heart Church in Wagon Mound, N.M. for Eve Marie Maestas, 22. The interment followed in the Santa Clara Cemetery.

    She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: Mike T. Apodaca and maternal grandparents: Cristobal and Adelicia Maestas.

  • Arnold David Miera

    Arnold David Miera, 56, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Clayton, N.M.

    He was born on Oct. 25, 1955 in Clayton to Arnold F. Miera and Dora (Sandoval) Miera. He was raised by his grandparents Nestor Miera and Feliciana (Gonzales) Miera on the family ranch in the Bueyeros and Mosquero area. He worked as a rancher and a truck driver for most of his life.

    He was preceded in death by his grandparents and by a brother: Eugene Allen Miera.
