When the football field was re-turfed, the drains were placed too close to the yellow out-of-bounds line for soccer, causing the coaches to feel it was unsafe for the players. The drains go around the whole perimeter of the field.
NMHU girls soccer to play in Santa Fe

Two years ago the New Mexico Highlands University football field was re-turfed, causing the Cowgirls soccer team to have to play in Taos. This year, they will have to play in Santa Fe at the Santa Fe Municipal Recreation Soccer Complex because the width of the university’s soccer field does not meet current NCAA regulations.
