Good quality food is the first step to good health, and we can thank the local farmers for this at the Fall Harvest Festival from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hotsprings and Mills for music, childrens’ activities and more good produce, meat and eggs.

    The New Mexico Tourism Department wants to hear from you. The department announced a year-long listening tour, traveling to cities like Rio Rancho, Angel Fire, Farmington and more to talk to residents. They want to learn how to improve tourism spots in the state. The Las Vegas session will take place 2-5 p.m. in the Highlands University Student Union Building, room 321.

    There will be a #DEFUNDHATE Immigration Forum at Old Town Mission Community Center (The Spot) on Friday evening, Sept. 13, at 5:30 p.m. Parking in the lot at 301 Socorro Street. This event is sponsored by RUIDO Indivisible Las Vegas NM, SMCFDW, UWC-USA Bartos Institute, Amnesty International Local Group 463, Las Vegas Peace & Justice Center, The Spot Youth Team and Understanding Immigration Task Force.     Las Vegas Theology on Tap will be held at the Plaza Ballroom. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the presentation at 7 p.m. The topic will be “A romp through the New Testament with Pete. New Testament supporting the Catholic ideas around Papal Authority.” The presenter will be Dr. Don Malin, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Alamosa, Colo. Everyone is welcome.

    Carnegie Public Library will begin hosting a weekly Story Time event on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Story Time will be 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday. The first story will be “The Berenstain Bears Go to School” with craft time to make school buses out of craft sticks.
