    Here is the breakfast menu for the Las Vegas/Pecos Senior Centers,
    for the weeks of May 7-11 and May 14-18.

    Cup cereal, Half bagel w/2t cream cheese

    Muffin, 2 boiled eggs, 1 orange, 4 Oz. Yogurt.

    Two pancakes and sausage, 4 Oz. yogurt, one orange.

    Two oz. Peanut butter, 1 tsp jelly  on half slice toast, 4 oz cereal.

  • MVCHS announces retirement of longtime contributor

    Las Vegas Optic reports

    Mora Valley Community Health Services, Inc. would like to announce the retirement of Lorraine French after 30 years of service to MVCHS and the Mora Community.

    Lorraine started working for MVCHS on Feb. 22, 1988, as a Home Health Aide, in the newly established Caridad de San Antonio Agency.

    French was the seventh employee hired by MVCHS and during her 30 years she worked under six different directors.

    Habitat for Humanity in Las Vegas and the United World College-USA in Montezuma recently recognized Sonya and Adam Berg of Rociada for their longtime volunteer efforts.

    The Bergs, who have been “Get-Away” parents at UWC for 15 years, also have volunteered for other organizations, including the Gallinas Watershed Council and Friend of Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Las Vegas native earns USAF award

    Las Vegas Optic reports

    The U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General recent named a Las Vegas native as recipient of an annual award.

    Staff Sgt. Martin Dominguez, a 35th Fighter Wing JA international and operations law paralegal, was recently named the Outstanding NCO Paralegal of the Year award for the work he did in the calendar year of 2016 and will be honored with the Swigonski Award.

    Albuquerque. Larry Abney and Beth Bailey were married in Las Vegas on July 8, 1966 by Justice of the Peace Jose

  • HU alum leads Arizona school to excellence

    A Highlands University alumnus is the principal of an Arizona public school that was named an A+ School of Excellence.
    Michael Crudder, B.A. 1986 and M.A. 1987, leads Copperwood Elementary School in Glendale, Ariz. The Arizona Educational Foundation tapped Copperwood for the A+ honor in May.

  • Saiz promoted to commanding officer post

    Lt. Commander J. Jacob Saiz was installed as the new commanding officer of the Navy Operational Support Center in El Paso, Texas, during a change of commander ceremony on Jan. 10.

    Saiz is the grandson of Herman and Lucy Saiz of Las Vegas. His grandfather Herman — a decorated veteran of the Pacific Campaign — placed the command pin on his grandson’s uniform.

    Several family members, including parents John and Maria Saiz of Aztec, N.M., also attended.
