Congratulations to the New Mexico Highlands women’s track and field team, which won a third place trophy in this past weekend’s NCAA Division II outdoor nationals in Allendale, Mich. The team matched its best finish ever at the competition. Senior Salcia Slack won a national title in the heptathlon and was runner-up in two other events. Sophomore Shanice McPherson was runner-up in the long jump, with other Highlands team members also having impressive showings. NMHU is led by head coach Bob DeVries and assistant Patrick Johnson.
