KNMX wins station of the year for the seventh time

Las Vegas based radio stations KNMX, KMDZ and KBQL continue to raise the bar in broadcasting, leaving the New Mexico Broadcasters Association’s 2014 awards gala with seven Golden Mike Broadcasting Awards.
One of the honors names KNMX-AM as Station of the Year for the seventh time, an unprecedented accomplishment in local broadcasting. Each of the seven winning pieces was produced by Jacob Garcia.
KNMX-AM alone earned six awards, which include Complete Newscast Station with Paul Ware; Sports Show or Interview with Richard Tripp for “Trippers Locker Room”; Talk Show or Interview for an interview of Gov. Susana Martinez conducted by Matt Martinez; :30 Commercial for “Fights at the ‘Pal’ – Paul Ware, talent; Website KNMX-AM SDC Broadcasting Website; and Station of the Year.
Taylor Read scored one for KBQL-FM as well, recognized for the :60 Commercial Martinez and Sons Processing “T-Bone,” Taylor Read, talent.
SDC Broadcasting is operated by Matt and Martha Martinez.
“We are very fortunate to continue to work with talented individuals, the most loyal listeners and to partner with great advertisers,” Matt Martinez said. “With KNMX we continue to work with great New Mexico artists and look forward to bringing their music to the listeners. 2014 is a big year for us as we will upgrade our programming and add a new station with a new format.”
The Excellence in Broadcasting Awards Gala was held on June 7 during the NMBA Convention at the Marriott Hotel and Resort Uptown in Albuquerque.
