Big night for Cordova

Carlos Cordova, who’d missed the season opener, made up for lost time Wednesday night, lighting up the scoreboard at Montoya Gym for 41 points.

That effort — which included 18 points in the third quarter alone — helped Pecos defeat Mora 95-74 and break the Rangers’ four-game winning streak in one of northern New Mexico basketball’s longest running rivalries.

The game was tied 12-12 after one quarter and it was a slender 33-30 Pecos lead at intermission.
