    NEW YORK  — As lawyers for NFL players and owners spend the weekend trying to put the lockout to rest, many fans wonder when pro football will return. And when it does, just how ragged will the preseason look?

    So ragged that the league and its 32 teams are considering ways to placate fans once a labor agreement is completed.

    While several local La Plaza Little League teams have reached their season’s end, the junior baseball team plays on — with a trip to state this weekend.

    La Plaza’s juniors play their first game at 9 a.m. Saturday at Albuquerque Zia to open tournament play against other top 13-14 baseball all-stars from across New Mexico.

    WASHINGTON — NFL players didn’t vote Wednesday on a full proposal to settle the league’s labor dispute, citing several outstanding issues, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

    Mission accomplished!

    The Las Vegas Little League 10-11 All-Star softball team captured the state championship in its division over the weekend and celebrated on Sunday afternoon with a noisy victory lap around the Meadow City.

    Riding in the back of a truck, the girls waved at well-wishers as the vehicles in the caravan exchanged honks of the horn with fellow Las Vegans along the route. A police escort led the way for the impromptu parade.
