  • Raton hangs on vs. Lady Cards

Working for rebounds and playing heads-up defense, the Raton Lady Tigers scored a key district victory Saturday afternoon at Robertson, 55-45.

With one week left in the regular season, District 2-3A squads are jockeying for position in the district tournament, which opens on Feb. 24.

Robertson (11-14, 3-4) has been trying to keep pace with Pojoaque Valley for the No. 2 spot, but a skid could drop the team to fourth.

    A Sarandon Walton 3-pointer and a Shania Dorrance hoop provided Raton (16-8, 3-4) a 5-0 head start.

  • WLV, Taos to square off for title

West Las Vegas got so far in front of Raton in such a short time on Wednesday night, it was like the Dons were speedskating on an ice track in Sochi rather than simply trotting up and down the hardwood of Gillie Lopez Gym.
