    SANTA FE — Hunters who applied for bighorn sheep, oryx or ibex licenses for the 2014-15 seasons and are unsuccessful in the drawings will be eligible for full refunds of application fees and license fees, the Department of Game and Fish announced Wednesday.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky.  — Louisville’s quest of fulfilling coach Rick Pitino’s hopes for the Cardinals repeating as national champions and becoming a “mini-dynasty” hinge on beating archrival Kentucky.

    That’s going to be a tough challenge against the Wildcats, who have been a thorn in the Cardinals’ side.

    Co-ed Mushball Tournament

  • Four make North-South hoops

    Robertson’s Abbey Bradley and Mora’s Gerty Herrera and Destiny Pacheco will represent the area in the Class 2A-3A North-South All-Star girls’ basketball game.

    And Gabriel Cruz from Wagon Mound will be part of the Class 1A-1B boys’ all-star game.

    No locals were named to the initial Class 2A-3A North boys’ squad, although it’s possible the final game day roster could include names not on the list now.

  • Luna softball 7-1 in league

    Luna Community College
    The Luna Community College Lady Rough Rider softball team continues to impress in conference play; the squad took three of four games from Clarendon Junior College over the weekend.

    After dropping the first game 7-2, the Lady Rough Riders bounced back to win 13-8, 16-4 and 18-10.

    Earlier in the week, LCC lost to Adams State junior varsity 6-4 and 15-5.

    The Lady Rough Riders are now 11-12 overall and more importantly 7-1 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.

    An organizational meeting for the City of Las Vegas’ adult softball league is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center.
