Once again, New Mexico Highlands University’s men’s cross country team is ranked among the top 10 squads in the NCAA Division II Central Region.

Coach Bob DeVries’ Cowboys are ranked eighth in a preseason poll released Tuesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The New Mexico Sports Authority committee will be meeting at noon on Thursday, Aug. 27, at Luna Community College.

“According to officials, it is the first time the prestigious committee meets at the college,” said Jesse Gallegos, a spokesman for Luna, in a news release.

The New Mexico Sports Authority is an entity designed to recruit and retain all forms of professional and amateur sporting events to New Mexico.
