  • Aragon representing LV in Puerto...

Playing alongside many of the top college-bound baseball players from across the country, Las Vegas’ own Nicholas Aragon has made himself right at home in Puerto Rico.

Aragon is playing as a member of the USA Coast to Coast team to which he was selected this past year. It’s been a busy schedule — two games per night throughout the week — loaded with playing experiences.

On Sunday, for example, the USA Coast to Coast team played two games against the Caguas, Puerto Rico, Reds, falling 4-3 and 10-3.

  • Grand slam makes history

Hannah Lopez made history — with her eyes closed.

On June 15, Lopez, 13, became the first Las Vegas Little League girls’ softball player — at least in recent history — to hit an over-the-fence home run at Keyes Park.

Lopez was playing for the Psychlones against the league-leading Lady Devils at the time. With the bases loaded in front of her, she drove the ball over not one fence, but two, in left center field, and it took a hop toward Mills Avenue.

Both of the Meadow City’s Little League organizations have announced lineups of all-star teams representing several age groups.

All-star district tournaments begin Friday, July 8, in Taos, which takes over hosting duties from Raton. Tournaments will run for a week, with winners advancing to state.
Locally, most Little League regular seasons have concluded, with the exception of Las Vegas Little League’s Minors Division. That division’s tournament was to crown a champion by Wednesday.

The all-star lineups are as follows.
