    Ute Lake: Stephen White of Dalhart, Texas, caught and released a 6.42-pound largemouth bass Nov. 6. Tabatha Wieberger of Clovis caught and released a 4.64-pound smallmouth bass.

    Postseason honors are beginning to roll in for high school soccer season, and both Robertson programs have reaped all-district awards after a year in which both Cardinals and Lady Cardinals finished in the top 10 and made it to the quarterfinals of the state tournaments.

    The Las Vegas Outlaws 9-10 youth football team captured the New Mexico AYF state title on Sunday with a 46-6 romp over East Mountain, while the 11-12 squad also reached the final before finishing as runners-up.

    C.J. Perea passed for four touchdowns – two to Patrick Rodriguez Jr., one apiece to Ethan Tafoya and Josh Martinez -- and ran for another. Tafoya and Devaughn Kensey each ran for TDs as well.

  • Four Highlands runners Academic...

    New Mexico Highlands cross country teams concluded the fall campaign at the NCAA Regionals in Canyon, Texas, on Saturday.

    Neither the men or women moved on to the national meet but four NMHU athletes earned Academic All-American status for the season.

  • State volleyball: Lady Cards...

    Robertson volleyball breezed past its first test of the Class 4A state tournament Thursday afternoon, beating two opponents in pool play.

    The Lady Cardinals, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 team in 4A, swept  Hatch Valley and then Hope Christian to finish first in Pool B. As a result, they receive a bye through the first round of bracket play, which was set for Thursday night.

    Robertson will play in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday's first-round match between Silver and Bosque.

  • Lady Cards win district tourney...

    As projected, the Robertson volleyball team has earned the No. 2 seed in this week’s Class 4A state tournament.

  • State football playoffs set

    The Class 4A state football bracket is out, and there were few surprises, particularly for Las Vegas' teams.

    Robertson (9-1 overall) was awarded the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye. The Cardinals followed their first loss of the fall -- a 33-27 setback against St. Michael's -- with lopsided wins over West Las Vegas and at Pojoaque Valley to wrap up the regular season.
