The Cowboy Cup, a qualifier for the Champions Cup of the National Small College Rugby Organization, plays out this weekend, April 2-3, at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque.

Last year, the Vatos made a deep run at the Champions Cup for traditional rugby before being eliminated.

  • Final Four on tap

    The Associated Press

March Madness lived up to its billing with all those upsets, crazy finishes and memorable performances.

Now that the calendar has turned to April, it’s time for the main event: North Carolina, Oklahoma, Villanova and Syracuse in the Final Four.

Houston, here they come — and it figures to be quite a show.

  • Final Four: Syracuse, Oklahoma,...

HOUSTON — Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim isn’t surprised that No. 2 seeds Oklahoma and Villanova knocked off top seeds to join No. 1 seed North Carolina in the Final Four.

He is, however, a bit taken aback that the other team in the field managed to do so.

“I’m probably surprised at the other guys — that we’re there,” Boeheim said of his team. “I shouldn’t say that, but I am a little surprised.”

  • Cold shot, baby

The hits keep on coming for the Robertson softball team, battle hardened through three tournaments, including this past weekend’s Kristin Griego Invitational in Rio Rancho.

The Lady Cardinals are now 10-1 to start the season, and it’s more a product of the size of the last two tournaments they’ve entered that they placed third and ninth at St. Mike’s and Rio Rancho, respectively.
