    Highlands University

    The Southwestern Section of the Society of American Foresters tapped a Highlands University professor for his Outstanding Contribution to Forestry Award.

    Forestry professor David Hacker earned the recognition.

  • Wednesday, June 1, 1966 — David Salman of La Cueva said today that about 100 acres of timber was destroyed by a fire which burned on his property Monday and was extinguished Tuesday. Salman said the area received a thorough wetting from rain Tuesday night after the blaze had been extinguished by a fire crew during the daylight hours. About .75 inch of precipitation was recorded on the rain gauge at La Cueva, Salman said.

Leopoldo Moya gave the valedictory address and Clara E. Garduño delivered the salutatory address. Honor addresses were given by Donald E. Romero, Louise G. Segura,  Michael L. Tejada, and Patricia M. Garcia.
