He put 10 consecutive strikes on the score sheet before a stubborn five-pin ruined his chances for a perfect game. The game is the highest ever bowled in league in the history of the Vegas Bowl.

  • Friday, Jan. 21, 1966 — State police are discouraging travel on all highways in and out of Las Vegas today, as snow-covered roads are reported slick and dangerous. The forecast for Las Vegas and vicinity called for early continuous snow today with accumulations near four inches. Snow diminishing to flurries this evening and clearing on Saturday and continued cold. The minimum temperature for tonight and early tomorrow will be near 5 degrees, with a maximum of 30 tomorrow.

  • Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1966 — A tangle of cars and trucks, which included a school bus, resulted when seven vehicles were involved in an accident at Eighth and Douglas at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The school bus, which had been trying to go north up the hill through several inches of ice and snow, ended up across the street alongside parked automobiles at the curb. There were no injuries.
