  • Monday, Nov. 1, 1965 — Modernization of East Las Vegas’ traffic signals has started. Friday afternoon the traffic signals at Seventh and Douglas were replaced with stop signs, making the intersection a four-way stop arrangement. Today the traffic signals at Twelfth and National are also being replaced by stop signs. New traffic signals will be installed at Seventh and Douglas and Twelfth and National to facilitate traffic flow at the intersection. The new lights will have detectors so that lights on one street will remain green unless there is traffic on the side street.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1965 — Harry Lancaster, director of the division of journalism at Highlands University, has been named as a consultant to the Journalism Education Association’s Commission on Curriculum Study. He will join 49 other college and university professors in assisting with a three-year study which was initiated during a three-week meeting on the Iowa State University campus this summer.

  • Friday, Oct. 22, 1965 — Dr. Robert J. Henry, Arthur G. Montoya, Loyd Anderson, Steve Franken, Babe Stevens and Glen Kearns have been elected to two-year terms as Chamber of Commerce directors. Present directors who will remain in office for another year are Ed Brown, Bill Keserich, W.W. Mason, William Wertz and Cokey Romero. The board will appoint a director to replace Ray Farmer, who resigned , and two others allowed by Chamber bylaws at the discretion of the board.
