A cross country race turned into a dogfight, but on this Saturday morning, Miguel Coca was the baddest dog around.
The West Las Vegas junior outkicked foes from Albuquerque High and Sandia to crash the finish line in a winning time of 16:13 to highlight the Manzano Invitational.
Coca’s effort led the Dons to a fifth place team finish.
“He ran tough; he ran smart,” said WLV head coach Leroy “Caro” Armijo. “He started behind (the front of the pack) and made his move.”
