Suit filed in fatal police shooting

GLORIETA — The father of a man shot and killed by a New Mexico State Police officer has filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit.
KRQE-TV reports that the federal lawsuit was recently filed by Daniel T. Pauly, the father of Samuel Pauly.

Isotopes walk all over Memphis

Albuquerque (37-32) used a five-run eighth to defeat the Memphis Redbirds (35-35) 13-10 at Isotopes Park Saturday night.

First baseman Brian Barden extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single in the fourth, matching the 2013 team high. He also scored a run, drove in two runs and drew two free passes as part of a 14-walk night for Albuquerque, establishing a new season mark.

Rob Rasmussen made his first Triple-A start at home for the Isotopes, tossing four innings of six-run ball on five hits.

Do men give other men friendly butt pats? Of course they do, especially when on the field. Somehow, the baseball field seems to be the most popular butt-patting venue, but you see it on and in football fields, basketball courts and baseball stadiums, whether in or out.

But not in a courtroom.

Bruins grab lead

BOSTON — Tuukka Rask watched most of the action at the other end of the ice. And when the Blackhawks did make a late charge, he was ready.
The Bruins goalie stopped 28 shots for his third career playoff shutout, helping Boston beat Chicago 2-0 on Monday night to take a 2-1 lead in the Stanley Cup finals. After playing four extra periods in the first two games, the Bruins made an early night of it with second-period goals by Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron.

Topes hang on vs. Memphis

The Albuquerque Isotopes led 3-0 through the first two innings and held on for a 4-3 decision Monday night against visiting Memphis.

The victory brought a successful end to Albuquerque’s homestand. The Isotopes’ win streak reached five, and they’ve won seven of 10.

Albuquerque is 39-32 as of Tuesday morning, a mere half-game out of first place in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division. Round Rock (40-32) is in first.

Memphis slipped to 35-37, still leading the PCL American Northern by one game over the Iowa Cubs (33-37).
