Welcome to the Optic's new readers forum. You may remember that last summer I pulled the plug on reader comments at the end of our story postings because of a few anonymous writers with nothing to lose and everything to smear. But now, with our new website configuration, I thinking we'll be able to have better conversations.
So write away on this or any of the other three forums I created for discussions. But, please, remember a few things about how to "talk" with one another:
When Don Woods played for HU he was the quarterback not a running back. When HU shut down the football program, Don went to UNM, played as quarterback and set a UNM passing record that stood for years. At San Diego, he played as a running back. At one time, after his pro career, he was an assistant football coach at West Mesa High in Albuquerque.
So, the proposed bond issue for higher ed will cost a property owner less than $10 per year in additional tax. President Fries says a highly favorable vote in Las Vegas might well make the difference in this state-wide vote. But how are East Side property owners feeling about any increase at all after the news from the City Schools?
