Thomas Manzano NOT LISTED On The...

Surprise, surprise! One of last year's best RMAC players, Thomas Manzano, is NOT listed on the 2011NMHU basketball team roster! Is he matriculating at NMHU, or did he transfer back to a Division I school? There's no question that this Brooklyn native can shoot hoopsp at a higher level. Or is he ineligible for the 2011 season, but eligible in 2012? Hmmm...

If he isn't on the HU roundball squad, this will be a HUGE blow to Coach Harge's 2011-12 season.

Let's hope Manzano is still around to play RMAC basektball!

How Can A Fired Highlands...

The person in question is Ed Manzanares, who won less than 20 games in 4 years as basketball coach. How can someone who is FIRED become Athletic Director? (AD) Why didn't the late HU baskeball coach Sanchez become AD? He was a very popular, honest coach...God bless him, RIP.

Former HU Football Coach John...

His alma mater, Pittsburg State Gorilla Football team, Pittsburg, Kansas won the NCAA Division II National Championship  last December 17 over Wayne State (MI), 35-21, in Florence, AL.

The football legend has been retired since 2002 as defensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills, and more than 44 years coaching, including a 35-4-1 at NMHU from 1967-70, the best coaching record in school history.

Simulated Progress

As we enter the umpteenth month of having two-lane traffic on Grand Avenue, I am drawn back in history to the controversy over the improvements on Grand. One proposal was to convert Grand to two-lane traffic. Opponents claimed such a change would cause delays on Grand and result in greater traffic on New Mexico avenue. These arguments won the day. Now we have had months of two-lane traffic, caused not be the completed project, but by the construction of the project. I travel Grand at various times every day and haven't noticed much in the way of delay.

A Modern Folk Fiesta

The New Mexico Highlands University Madrigal Choir presents A Modern Folk Fiesta concert Nov. 21, at 3 p.m., in Ilfeld Auditorium.  The concert features folk music from Spain, Ireland, Germany, the Philippines, Canada, Russia, France, Africa, China, Israel and India, as well as American pieces. 
 

Alleged RMAC Conference Call...

During the NMHU-Colorado Mines football game last September, it was alleged that some of the football players made threats to the Mines Cheerleaders, and a complaint was made against HU that resulted in a RMAC conference call over this matter.

The results of that call have been not made public, but this writer is requesting the full particulars under the FOI (Freedom of Information) Act, since this is public record. When the information is known, and there's full veracity to what was said will be republished here on this Forum.
