Animal Protection of New Mexico is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in a disturbing extreme animal cruelty case.
The Albuquerque-based group issued a news release this week highlighting the case of “Fonzi,” a 7-9-year-old male terrier mix found near Armijo Elementary School with a chain around his neck on May 20. The dog had to be euthanized eight days later because of serious health issues resulting from years of abuse and neglect.
This two-day celebration honors Santa Ana and Santiago and features a mass for the patron saints of the fiestas. There will be plenty of activities, including live music, rodeos, a parade and plenty of food vendors.

Monday, July 27 — Town Police have received numerous reports of someone poisoning dogs in West Las Vegas. Police Chief Melecio Perea said that when the culprit is caught he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Perea pointed out that in addition to the grief a dead pet can bring, there is danger to children in the area where the poison is located.

It is troubling that a woman was able to walk away with her two children during a supervised visit at the local Children Youth and Families Department office.
We have to believe that judges don’t strip a parent of custody without having good cause. If anything, judges tend to be reluctant to take that action unless they have proof that a child’s wellbeing is at risk.
