The West Las Vegas school board election takes place in a just a few weeks. But one person won’t be campaigning on Election Day, scheduled for Feb. 7.
James R. “Gordy” Lovato, a candidate for a position on the West Las Vegas school board, died unexpectedly on Jan. 9 at his home.
His wife, Lydia Maddox, said her late husband was undergoing dialysis for the past eight years. She said that he was looking forward to his campaign for office where he was running against incumbent Christine Ludi and Joe A. Gallegos.
