Greg Medina can be found in a local coffee shop when he is not tinkering with computers. But he’ll have to put his computer tinkering on hold for a few hours on Saturday morning. Medina along with the senior class of West Las Vegas will find themselves walking across the stage on Saturday morning, marking the end of their high school years.

For Medina, walking across that stage will open up the door to an exciting future.

Medina, 18, will depart to Neumont University to study computer science in a few months.

UPDATE: Las Vegas Police Department Deputy Chief Eugene Garcia said the case has been handed over to New Mexico State Police as of late Thursday afternoon. Garcia also said the estimated amount of damage has been reduced to $2,000.

Las Vegas police say they have suspects in the weekend vandalism at Robertson High School, and the Las Vegas City Schools district is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.

ALBUQUERQUE — A transgender student at an Albuquerque high school has skipped his graduation over a dispute about what color robe he had to wear.
Officials at St. Pius X Catholic School insisted that because Damian Garcia was born as a girl, he must wear a white robe along with the other girls at Wednesday’s graduation ceremony.
Garcia wanted to wear a black robe like other male students.
He was named Brandi until legally changing his name last year.

For many teens, high school years are about proms, homecoming, Friday night football games, basketball games and plenty of fun. For Kayla Romero they were filled with countless doctor visits, trips to Denver for treatments, and hospital stays as she battled re-occurring Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

But Romero has refused to let the devastating disease get the best of her. On Friday evening, Romero will join her Mora High School classmates and receive a diploma that she worked tirelessly for despite battling the disease not once but twice during her four years of high school.
