Jobless rate at 6.5 percent
New Mexico’s unemployment rate stayed at 6.5 percent in June, down from 6.9 percent a year ago.
The state Workforce Solutions Department said Friday that the state’s economy gained 2,500 jobs over the year.
Gains in six industries offset losses in seven others, pushing growth into positive territory for the first time in nine months.
Education and health services led all industries with an increase of 3,500 jobs, partly due to seasonal variability.
