LAS CRUCES — New Mexico State announced Wednesday that Athletics Director McKinley Boston will step down at the end of the year.
In a statement, the university said Boston’s contract would be extended until Dec. 31 and then a replacement will be named.
The move came after New Mexico State University President Garrey Carruthers finished a performance review of Boston, but he declined to comment on the review.
However, Carruthers said he expects more from the top athletic post when it comes to fundraising.
