The guessing is over. New Mexico Highlands University regents have selected Sam Minner as the school’s next president, ending an eight-month process that began when Jim Fries announced last October that he would be retiring.
In all, 52 people applied to be Highlands’ president. A search committee whittled that pool down to six finalists and turned those names over to regents in April.
The university made the names of the finalists public on April 16 and then set up four separate forums for each of the finalists to take part in.
