Regarding (Tom McDonald’s) “Free Speech and Gun Rights” (column): A couple of comments on your comparison of the First Amendment to the Second Amendment:

The “limitations” you mention on free speech (falsely yelling “fire” in a crowded theater and defamation) both are declarations of the fact that the First Amendment does not protect false statements. These limitations are not what we might call substantive.

No comprende. Recent letters to the editor by Diana Presser and Jesus Rivas, again demonstrate there is little evidence that fracking is a big problem, yet there are so many good people who believe it is. I’m still waiting to see the unbiased, credible sources that warrants their concerns.

I feel informed after reading (Tom McDonald’s column) titled “Free speech and gun rights,” published on Jan. 7.

The public is ready to accept meaningful laws relevant to tighter gun control, particularly related to the use of assault weapons. However, we already see and understand that new regulations, like ones already on the books, are highly unlikely to be enforced. First, let’s write regulations that must be enforced, that the regulators can and will use to regulate the action that is begging to be regulated.

I am writing to let the people of Las Vegas know that there is an establishment in your community that went out of its way to assist a stranger that had broken down on the highway on Dec. 22 at 4:45 p.m. This establishment I am referring to is Michael’s Precision Automotive.
