Board Chairman Dan Romero and some of our board members are attempting to hijack the May 10 Mora-San Miguel Electric Cooperative’s trustee election. Chairman Dan Romero, who is running for District 4 position, and some of our board members have conspired to control the District 4 election by holding the election in a district that I believe cannot make quorum.

Only one voting site has been selected. The election will be held in the far eastern district five miles from Dan Romero’s (Romeroville-Tecolote) home; but as far as 50 miles from voters in our district.

I don’t get it! We have had this water problem since the end of the 19th Century. This 500 percent increase that the mayor wants, is this going to solve our problem? 

Maybe, because many of us will just not water what’s left of our  lawns.

This letter is in response to the tongue lashing given to the RHS FFA students at the recent Las Vegas City School board meeting. First of all I would like to clarify with Ms. Gloria Lovato-Pacheco that the money the students used was not given to the students by the city school board.

Rather, that money was raised by the FFA students, parents and extended family members in order for these students to represent Robertson High School, the city of Las Vegas as well as the state of New Mexico at the National Convention.

The reintroduction of Rio Grande del Norte National Conservation Area Establishing Act in Taos County on March 29 is a huge win for northern New Mexico. Our Democratic congressional delegation — Sens. Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall and Reps. Ben Ray Lujan and Martin Heinrich deserve praise from people here in northern New Mexico for taking the step in this 112th Congress to preserve 236,000 acres in north central New Mexico.  Please take a moment to call the delegation thanking them for their work.
