Trump a peddler of snake oil

There is no doubt about it.  Donald Trump is an ace at grabbing interest, attention and headlines.  In the best tradition of all snake oil salesmen, he knows exactly what words to use to mesmerize his audience. And he knows exactly what buttons to push to get them to dig into their pockets and buy his product.

    Projects need funding
So, let’s name a few of the major issues facing Las Vegas. A dwindling population, growing poverty, inadequate women’s health services, vacant boarded-up homes, food insecurity, water shortages, scandal-ridden educational institutions. The list goes on.

AWC has done much for the community
I will be honest, I am a supporter of the AWC. There are many reasons why, but the following will basically sum it up.

In the past three years, they have coordinated thousands of volunteer hours (an average of 400 hours per month). They manage a successful Trap-Neuter-Release program funded by Zimmer Feline Foundation for feral cats.

    Wake up, El Norte!

When will we start to include in election discussions the Green and Libertarian Parties as serious alternatives to the circus we call the two-party system? Are we not tired of candidates with close ties to wall street, war mongering, racism, hatred, and profit, profit, profit?

    In support of Minner
I just read the article regarding the accreditation issues facing Highlands University. I just wanted to weigh in on my support for Sam Minner the president of HU.
The deficiencies noted did not come about over the last year but rather were an accumulation of mismanagement from the top for the last two decades. Unfortunately, all of the deficiencies are now on the plate of President Minner.

    Mil gracias
I want to thank everyone who participated in our Farmers’ Market annual Harvest Festival Sept 17. It was a great festival because of all who came to buy the fresh produce from our local farmers. Thanks to the city for their support, the vendors, musicians, Steve Leger, volunteers, and especially to the farmers who go above and beyond to bring to the people of Las Vegas and surrounding communities- the excellent food that keeps us healthy.

Great service at Alta Vista Hospital
Recently, I spent several days in the Alta Vista hospital due to an illness that required my hospitalization. Generally speaking, no time spent in the hospital is a pleasant experience, but I must say, that the staff was most professional and helpful to me.

The nursing corps, the food service, and the staff at all levels made my stay as comfortable as could reasonably be expected. I do not want to mention them by name because, if I forget someone, I would not want them to feel slighted in any way.

    Hillary ‘scandals’  overblown
For over a year we’ve all heard about Hillary Clinton’s “scandals” and past mistakes. The entertainment media, formally called the news media, keeps dragging out these “errors in judgment” as proof she is barely qualified to be president. But what they never disclose is how these problems are the inventions of the opposing party.

    Trump is ‘Alt-Reality
Lately, I have been seeing blogs that Donald Trump is Alt-Right. He well may be, but mainly he is Alt-Reality.

Luna student says it’s time for a change
I am currently attending school at Luna Community College. I am also a veteran. I initially began the process to enroll at Luna in March of 2015.
I had intended to start classes that summer. Upon arriving on campus, I soon realized that there was no V.A representative. This made it very difficult to apply my benefits from my time in the service to Luna.
