    Supporting Charles Trujillo

I had a dream recently that I would like to share.

Emelia Trujillo, Charles Trujillo’s grandmother, was my best friend. I believe that those who have died are still with us in spirit.

The team would like to send out a great big thanks to Mora Presbyterian Church, sponsoring businesses and all of the community members in Mora and Las Vegas.

    Support refugees
We refer to the front page article in the Optic of Sunday, July 1, titled “City, county both hear ‘sanctuary’ requests.”  The article correctly points out that “Sanctuary” is a term which has “different meanings around the U.S.,” but it misrepresents what took place at the meeting of the City Council. A resolution was presented to the Council, with 17 supporters in attendance, but the resolution deals with refugees rather than with immigrants and sanctuary.

    Honor Mora teacher
Another school year is over, and students get a much-needed rest.

Many teachers and other staff have taught at Mora Independent Schools, including myself. I attended and graduated from Mora High School. I had very good teachers, and when they died, I wrote a special poem for each of them, as I did for (Stuart) Beck from the Las Vegas Optic. In fact, his family used my poem on his obituary card.

I remembered him this past Memorial Day, as I did my teachers. They all did a good job and they are in a better land.

    R/C works with FAA
There has been an ongoing discussion involving the FAA and the American Modelers Association for a couple of years now concerning the free, unregulated use of radio-controlled airplanes, or drones, if you wish.

For years, the FAA and the AMA have worked together to make the radio-control hobby a safe means of recreation. When remote control first started, a ham radio license was required and used the ham frequencies — usually 10 and 6 meters.
