  • Rangerettes fall in semis

A valiant 28-point, 14-rebound effort by Andrea Romero and a spirited comeback by the Mora Rangerettes weren’t enough to get them past defending state champion Navajo Pine in the Class 2A girls’ state tournament semifinals this past Thursday at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho.

Navajo Pine, the No. 6 seed and eventual state runner-up, outscored Mora 6-3 in overtime to pull off a 46-43 win, ending a historic Rangerettes season that saw them set a new school record for wins with 28 (with just three losses).
