Mora distance runner Alonzo Chavez placed fourth in the boys’ 2-mile run Monday at the Marilyn Sepulveda Invitational in Albuquerque.
The annual meet is an invitation-only affair reserved for the top high school track and field athletes from across the state.
Chavez had one of his best efforts, finishing the 3,200-meter run in 9:57.46. He won the event at the recent Fabian Trujillo Memorial Invite with a time of 10:23.69.
Chavez and Pecos’ Antonio Varela were the only two competitors from Class 2A in the boys’ 2-mile run.
