    The New Mexico Highlands University Wind Ensemble and the Roadrunner Brass Quintet will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 in Ilfeld Auditorium.

    Selections for the concert will include compositions by George Frideric Handel, Gustav Holst and Jules Massenet as well as traditional Spanish pieces.

    The Wind Ensemble is composed of Highlands University students and musicians from the Las Vegas area.  Edward Harrington, music professor and band director, conducts the Wind Ensemble.

    Tenured faculty walk off jobs
    ST. LOUIS — Tenured educators and those on track to become so walked off their jobs Thursday at Southern Illinois University, pressing administrators of the 20,000-student school to find temporary replacements for the striking workers in hopes of keeping classes unimpeded.

    Halloween was well celebrated in Mora last weekend.

    There was the haunted house on Sunday. The Little League players, board members and parents went all out to make a spooky haunted house at the elementary gym. The lobby was even spooky with a witch at the popcorn machine and a ticket taker beside her.

    We created this simple biscuit recipe to let the flavors of crushed fennel seeds and fresh chives shine. They are delicious warm from the oven and are perfect for sopping up excess gravy and mashed potatoes.
