    Thursday, Aug. 1 — All Las Vegans interested in bringing airline service to Las Vegas are invited to attend a meeting of the San Miguel County Area Redevelopment Association tonight at 7:30 in the City Council Chambers. The president of Bison Airlines will be present to discuss the possibility of his airline extending service to Las Vegas, which has been without commercial airline service for 10 years.

    Don’t forget that New Mexico’s tax holiday begins today and runs to midnight Sunday. During the tax holiday, there’s no gross receipts tax on certain items bought at participating retailers. No tax will be imposed on computers up to $1,000, on school supplies under $30 and clothing and shoes up to $100.

    ALBUQUERQUE — Preston Blake says he’s a “down to earth, mature and serious man.” In an online profile, he sports a shirtless photo of himself while smiling and flexing his chiseled right arm. “I’m solid, real, in a world full of fake,” the 31-year-old describes himself.

  • Mora County Notebook: Fiestas one for the memory books

    The fiesta is a happy time to be in the great town of Mora.

    After the mass and processional, the Fiesta Dance at the American Legion Pavilion took place. It was well attended.

    Later in the evening, Jessica Gold was crowned as the 2013 Fiesta Queen. Amber Scarver was close behind her. They were both beautiful in their best gowns.
