Robertson sophomore Rico Montoya has had his arm raised in victory 45 times this wrestling season.
On Saturday night, the 45th time came after he’d coasted to a 10-0 major decision over Cobre junior Daniel Soliz in the Class 1A-3A state championship match at 120 lbs.
Montoya has won three state titles in a row, and this one was a quick clinic.
In the first period, Montoya scooted around for a takedown and a 2-0 lead 20 seconds in. He hung on, preventing a strong escape attempt by Soliz.
