  • Audit finds more problems at PRC

    State Auditor Hector Balderas and Public Regulation Commission Chairman Pat Lyons traded calls for each other’s resignation Thursday after Balderas released an audit that backs up recent allegations of widespread misconduct at the troubled commission, including email exchanges that appear to be about illegal drug use.

  • Block ordered to prison for evaluation

    SANTA FE — Former state utility regulator Jerome Block Jr. was sent to a state prison diagnostic center Friday, and a judge sternly warned him that he potentially faces many years behind bars if he doesn’t deal with a drug addiction.

    For crying out loud, the new city charter has been sitting there for two years, so why wait until after the Jan. 10 filing date to seek a summary judgment?

    The answer, from the man who wants to challenge the new charter, is that he should have done it earlier, but since he didn’t, it’s better to do it now rather than after the March 6 municipal elections.
