  • NM could lose up to $25M in tobacco revenues

    SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez’s administration plans to cut spending on several health and education programs because New Mexico faces the loss of up to $25 million from a nationwide settlement with tobacco companies.

    The state expected to collect about $39 million in tobacco payments in the current budget year. However, the attorney general’s office said Wednesday that amount will be lowered because of an arbitration ruling against New Mexico and five others states in September.

    From health care to spying to pending budget deals, many congressional Democrats are challenging the administration and pushing for measures that the White House has not embraced.

    The most beautiful building Mora has ever had was the old courthouse that is just a memory for some of the older people. There have been old photos and paintings made to remind the younger generation of the past. This beautiful painting was done by the artist Sylvia Ortega who lives in Guadalupita.
