  • Artists reception slated

Aristotle wrote that the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. The up-coming art event in La Tienda Art Exhibit Space at Eldorado touches on Aristotle’s view in interesting ways.

The artists who will be featured in the month-long exhibit express the inward significance of their work with a variety of media and styles.

The Northern Nine group show opened Friday and runs until Sept. 25, with an artists’ reception set for Saturday, Sept. 8 from 4-7 p.m.

  • Fracas at Highlands leads to arrest

A 21-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center on Tuesday because of an incident that occurred last Friday on the New Mexico Highlands University campus.
Highlands police prepared an arrest warrant affidavit for Joseph R. Dominguez accusing him of battery on a peace officer, fleeing from police and public affray.
The affidavit states that a fight broke out at a dance at the Sala de Madrid last Friday and that when those in the crowd saw the Highlands officer approach, they left the building.
